Interviewing for a job can be nerve-wracking wherever you live, but interviewing in a different language can add extra stress.
Here we will talk about some questions you might come across in an interview.
Some keys words you may hear are work experience, responsibilities, qualities, characteristics.

１）面接官； Thank you for coming in today. Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
お越し頂きありがとうございます。以前の職業について教えてください。
回答例-I am currently between jobs. I worked for three years at a medical company as marketing manager supporting the field team.
現在は無職で職を探しています。医療関連の企業にて、営業チームのサポートのため、マーケティングマネジャーをやっていました。
２）面接官；What were your responsibilities?
当時の責任は？
回答例-XYZ Medical’s priority at that time was to educate reps in the field so I created the product brochures from scratch and used them to train reps. I helped the reps to become more knowledgeable about the product so that they could be more successful.
当時のXYZ社(前企業）での優先事項は営業マンのトレーニングでした。ゼロからカタログを作成し、カタログを使わせるためレップをトレーニングしました。営業マンが更に製品における知識をつけるためのサポートを行いました。それにより、彼らはより多くの成功をつかむことができたと思います。
３）面接官；Why did you leave your last job?
回答例-I had a strong ambition to improve my ability to manage people using my experience through success of education. I went back to grad school to get my MBA.
４）面接官；What qualities do you have that make you right for this job?
この職をうまく遂行するにあたり、あなたはどんな資格をもたれていますか？
回答例-Not only marketing experience, but also learning management during my on-site internship brought confidence to me to manage people. I am confident to help your team have more success in the business.
マーケティングの経験だけではなく、インターンでの経験で得たマネジメントの学習は、私に大きな自信を与えました。この事業で更なる成功をもたらす自信があります。
５）面接官；Why do you want to work for our company?
何故、この当社で働きたいのですか？
回答例-I’m very interested in your robotic technology; it is becoming necessary to provide a more accurate method for surgery to save patients whose quality of life is suffering because of injury.
御社のロボティック技術に非常に興味をもっています。生活の質に苦しんでいる患者を助けるために、より正確な方法で手術の実施がますます必要になってくると思っています。
６）面接官；What are your best and worst characteristics?
あなたの長所と短所を教えてください。
回答例-People say I am too focused on a topic, especially one that is critical for the company. Tackling the challenge makes me lose track of time. So I tend to prioritize work, compromising my social life, until I am fully satisfied with it. It is mixed characteristics for best and worst, I presume.
私はある課題に集中しすぎると、言われます。特に、企業にとって重要となるものです。この課題に取り組むことで、時間の経過を忘れてしまう時もあります。私は満足がいくまで仕事を優先するため、プライベートの時間を損う時があります。ただこれは長所でも短所でもあると思っています。
And remember, it`s important to ask questions about the job requirements and benefits, and also express your interest by asking questions about the company itself.
面接官からの質問が終わった後、今度は自分のから職務要件や福利厚生の質問をするのが大切です。また自分の興味を表現するための企業に関する質問もお忘れなく。
面接で使える表現
He is between jobs right now. 彼は現在、仕事をしていない、という意味です。働いていないというより、現在職探し中という印象を与えます。
I had to wear many hats. たくさんの異なる職務を担っていた。つまりいろいろな経験を積んだと言うときに使えます。
He is a hands-off manager.部下のマネジメントをする上で詳細までこだわらない管理者のことです。逆はmicro manager.
The company needs to think outside the box. 異なる視点や創造的な考え方という意味です。具体的な回答例も考えときましょう。
Learning a programing would be a good way to get your foot in the door of a compnay in Siliconvalley. 足をドアに入れる、つまりやりたい事に対する機会をつかむために、という意味になります。
